What is Your Life?
Do you know that death is a reality?
Many think otherwise. But what we think cannot alter the facts. Death is a
reality but the grave is not the end. It is just a change to the unseen world
for better or for worse. The Bible declares, "And as it is appointed unto
men once to die, but after this the Judgment."(Heb. 9:27.) "For the
living know that they will die ... " (Eccles. 9:5.)
What are you doing with your life?
In our hedonistic age where every fashion is designed to seduce, many have
shown by their countenance, appearance, demeanor, and comportment that they
think their lives are in their hands to control and that they still have more
years to live. Hear the Psalmist: "For the wicked boasteth of his heart's
desire, and blesseth the covetous whom the Lord abhorreth. The wicked, through
the pride of his countenance will not seek after God: God is not in all his
thoughts. His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his
sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
He hath said in his heart I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in
adversity. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue
is mischief and vanity." (Ps. 10:3-11.) What is your life? Think of the
consequences of your stand. You allow history to repeat itself rather than
repealing itself. For tonight your soul may be required of you. (Luke 12:16-26.)
What are you thinking about which makes you too proud to obey God?
Vanity of vanities, all is vanity! (Eccies.1:2.) Or have you been
contemplating when and how to have life in Christ? Then take up your Bible and
read! The answer is right there in your Bible. For our God is a loving Father
who does not want us to perish in our sins but to have life. (2 Peter 3:9;
John 10:10.)
When: It is now. Don't delay.
For now is your salvation nearer than when you believed. (Rom. 13:11.) Today
is the acceptable time for tomorrow may be too late. (2 Cor. 6:2.) Why
boasteth thou of tomorrow? It may never be. (Prov. 27:1; Eccles. 8:7.) For
tomorrow is but a vision and your yesterday is but a dream. Today well-lived
will make tomorrow a vision of hope and your yesterday a dream of happiness.
For in its brief course lies all the verity and reality of your existence.
(Matt. 6:34.)
We now come to the "how" of the question.
How to come to Jesus is simple. He did not want you to believe in some
fantastic scheme. Have you not deemed it simple just to believe the gospel?
Jesus lived, died, and rose from the dead. This is the gospel. (1 Cor.
15:14.) Do you believe this fact? You are now left with a command to obey.
Jesus gave this command as a pre-requisite for salvation:
a. Believe in Jesus.
(Acts 16:31; Jn. 8:24; Heb.
11:6.) Believing that He is able to save you from your sins. (Matt 1:21.)
b. Repent of your sins.
For all have sinned and come short of God's glory. (Rom. 3:23.) Except we repent we shall all perish. (Luke
13:3-5; Acts 3:19.)
c. Confession
must be made of His name if you
desire to be justified and forgiven. Confessing Him as the Son of God. ( Acts
8:37.) This is necessary because some fail to confess Him lest they be put out
of the synagogue. (Jn. 12:42; 9:22.) Therefore confession is necessary. (Rom.
10:9-10.)
d. Baptism.
This is the last step which puts one into Christ. (Gal. 3:27.) It makes one
to identify with the facts of the gospel - with the death, burial and
resurrection of Christ. (Rom. 6:3-4.) It is the burial which washes our sins
away. (Acts 22:16; Col. 2:12.) Moreover it puts one into the body of Christ
(Matt. 16:18; Col. 1:18.)
Having done thus you begin to enjoy the promises of God: remission of sins,
salvation and the promise of eternal life. You are to live faithfully unto
God, until death. (Rev. 2:10; Matt. 24:14; 2 Cor. 5:15.)
Don't be confused concerning which church to join. Don't compare one
denomination with another, otherwise you will be more confused. Haven't you
found it safe and sound to study the scriptures? The Lord adds you to His body,
the church, the moment you obey the gospel commands. (Acts 2:37-47.)
Know what your Bible says for thus it shall be in the last days, there shall
arise separatists, a lot of "isms" being offered in the name of
Christ, sectarianisms, etc. (1 Cor. 1:10-13; Matt 24:24-25; Acts 20:29-30; Rev.
2:9; 1 Jn 2:18-19.) What is your life? Don't delay.
